Planting a new tree

Getting your fruit tree off to a healthy start means buying a healthy tree and planting it correctly.  Root health is critical for tree health, and this class demonstrates the key considerations in planting a new tree.  Fruit trees and shrubs will be available for purchase at City People’s Garden Store and proceeds from their sale will benefit City Fruit.  All berries and small fruits (rhubarb) are organic.

Picture 068Instructor Jana Dilley is the Program Manager for the City of Seattle’s reLeaf program and is a certified arborist working in the urban forestry field for 10 years.  She has a Master’s degree in Forest Resources and Public Affairs.  A native of Minnesota, Jana has planted thousands of trees during her career and hopes to plant thousands more.

This class is part of the Second Sunday Series of fruit tree classes, a collaboration between City People’s Garden Store and City Fruit.

Call City People’s at 206-324-0737 to register.
