Mulch Around the Trees and then Enjoy the Orchard!
Enjoy the orchard and meet other fruit-loving folks.
Piper’s Orchard apples are growing! We had a great work party on June 7th, with about 2,000 nylon footies and paper bags applied to the new apples after thinning. We began weeding and mulching around the trees.
Our next work party on Sunday, July 13th will be shorter in duration, just from 10AM – noon. We’ll continue the work of weeding and mulching around the trees.
Then, from noon – 2PM, we invite you – and friends who might not be interested in any work at all – to gather in the orchard, and share some good company and food. It’s a picnic!
Meet at Piper’s Orchard in Carkeek Park. You can find the orchard if you start at the McAbee trailhead to Carkeek Park, which is at NW 103th Place at 6th Ave. NW. Follow the trail to Piper’s Orchard.
We’ll supply tools, gloves, and wood chip mulch for the work party from 10 to noon. Then, from noon – 2 pm, we invite you (and friends who might not be interested in any work at all) to gather in the orchard, and share some good company and food. Take life easy and relax in the peaceful space that is Piper’s Orchard. We’ll provide some goodies; please bring something to share. There will be live music to make the orchard magic. See you then!
