2009 was City Fruit's first full year in operation. We worked hard and accomplished a lot. Primarily it was a learning year for us that sets us up for a great 2010.
Below are the highlights, but you can find the full report here .
Birthday
City Fruit celebrated its first full year in existance. |
Harvest
43 volunteers in two neighborhoods picked more than 10,000 pounds of fruit from over 100 trees. |
Classes
We did a total of six classes across the city on a variety of subjects including canning, pruning, pest control, and fruit drying. |
Map
Working with University of Washington students we created a fruit tree map of Seattle and we registered more than 650 trees. |
Technology
We launched the website, blog, and Facebook page. |
Press
Was a great year getting our name & mission out there. We got a few mentions in the Seattle Times, were on both KUOW and KIRO, and got some traction in local blogs. |
