Wassail ceremonies started in southwest England’s cider-producing counties –Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Gloucestershire–where people went into the orchards, singing and drinking, to wake up the cider apple trees and scare away evil spirits.
Piper’s Orchard own Wassail Party will feature the Sound and Fury Morris and Sword dancers and singers waking up the orchard on January 12 from noon to 1:30 pm. Snacks will be provided by the Friends of Piper’s Orchard. Go out and help ensure a strong harvest in 2013.
